Instagram Spots in Oahu
Oahu, the perfect island to experience a happening city or escape it all with beautiful hiking spots and beaches. Needless to say, it's a picture perfect place. See My Travel Guide to Oahu blog post for travel tips & more!
Here are some of my favorite places to take pictures:
(tap the arrow on the collages to see more photos from each place)
Byodo-In Temple
The temple is such a gorgeous and unique place to take photos. There's a small entrance fee, but the photos you get are worth it. Just remember to be respectful!
Hilton Hawaiian Village
It's a very walkable area, and it's filled with unique buildings and shops. It's super touristy, so I would recommend getting out early in the morning to avoid crowds in the back of your photos. The hotels alone are pretty cool, so if you can, definitely take pictures in one!
Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden
This place is all around awesome for photos. There's a road surrounded by trees, a gorgeous lake, and lots of places to walk around. It's also really cool to read about the different trees they have planted there on the way down to the lake.
Sharks Cove
If you plan on getting into the water, BRING WATER SHOES (I learned the hard way). It's a shallow, rocky cove with small fish and other sea creatures. Aside from it not being barefoot friendly, it's an incredible spot.
Waimea Bay Beach
This is an absolutely gorgeous beach! The lifeguard tower and all the trees look great in photos, as well as the tall rock formations that surround the beach.
Leonard's Bakery
Great for Malasadas and pictures ;) no need to say much more.
Lanikai Beach
This beach is one of my favorites on the island. The sand is so soft, the water is warm and looks so gorgeous. The beach is super photogenic, it'd be hard not to get an amazing photo.
Manoa Falls
It's about a 30-minute hike to the fall, and it's gorgeous the entire time. Heads up- the pool below the fall itself isn't swimmable due to the risk of Leptospirosis.
The Sunrise Shack
A cute orange shack surrounded by nature is undoubtedly a great photo spot. Plus whatever you order will be just as photogenic (and tasty). Make sure to go to the Sunset Beach or Shark's Cove location.
Lanikai Pillbox Hike
The views throughout the hike are picture-perfect. Although, since it isn't the easiest hike.... it gets a little sweaty.
Hanauma Bay
This is a great place to snorkel and take photos! I wouldn't go here just to take pictures, but it's definitely worth bringing a camera if you plan on snorkeling. Heads up- there is an entry fee and it may be difficult to get tickets!!
